Fayetteville man killed in three-vehicle crash

A driver died Thursday in Fayetteville after his pickup drifted into another lane, sideswiping one vehicle and then colliding with another, authorities said.

It happened shortly before 10 a.m. as 45-year-old Steve Chandler of Fayetteville drove a 2012 Chevrolet pickup south on Crossover Road near Copper Oaks Place, Arkansas State Police said.

According to a report, the pickup drifted into another southbound lane and sideswiped a vehicle before veering into the northbound lanes and hitting a second vehicle there.

Chandler died from unspecified injuries.

One other driver was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The report didn't indicate what may have caused the pickup to drift. Conditions were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 266th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
