Alumni To Be Inducted Into Fayetteville Education Foundation Hall Of Honor

Allen, Faucette And Gearhart Are Newest Fayetteville Inductees

FAYETTEVILLE -- Three Fayetteville High School alumni will become the newest inductees in the Public Education Foundation Hall of Honor later this year.

Nancy Allen, Jane Gearhart and George Faucette Jr. were introduced Thursday at a luncheon attended by 80 education supporters. Each said they were honored to be part of the annual recognition. Since the program's inception in 1997, 60 men and women have been inducted.

The Fayetteville Public Education Foundation will host the Hall of Honor Dinner and Induction. Tickets are on sale for $75 per person. The event is:

Gearhart and Faucette are married to former honorees, Dave Gearhart and Rosemary Faucette.

The induction ceremony will be Oct. 9 at the Town Center. Earlier that day, the inductees will be presented to students at a high school assembly.

The purpose of the Hall of Honor is to provide role models for students by honoring alumni who have distinguished themselves; to create excitement about education; and to honor educators and friends who have made contributions to public education.

Nancy Gordon Allen

Allen is a longtime resident and graduated from high school in 1961. She obtained a bachelor's degree in education at the University of Arkansas. She began her teaching career in Little Rock and was active in the integration of Little Rock schools. She returned to Fayetteville in 1980. Allen taught for a semester at the former Bates Elementary School before moving to Jefferson Elementary School until 1987.

She has been an active community volunteer and served on the City Council, Planning Commission and Civil Service Commission. She formed an association for her neighborhood and served on the city Council of Neighborhoods.

Allen is married to Nate Allen and is stepmother to two children and grandmother to four.

George Faucette Jr.

Faucette graduated from high school in 1962 and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas. He spent several years in San Francisco before returning to Fayetteville in 1975 to become a partner in Faucette Real Estate. In 2010 he merged his company with Pat Harris to become Coldwell Banker Harris McHaney and Faucette, with 200 sales associates in four offices in Northwest Arkansas.

Faucette has received numerous business and civic awards and served on the boards of directors of several organizations, including the Vestry at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Fayetteville Public Library Foundation, Seven Hills Homeless Center and the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.

He is married to Rosemary Faucette and they have two children and three grandchildren.

Jane Brockmann Gearhart

Gearhart graduated from high school in 1970 and attended the University of Arkansas where she received a bachelor's degree in education, majoring in English and journalism. She has worked as a newspaper reporter; a journalism and English teacher; a church director of education programs; and imaging project manager in the Office of Development Research at the university.

She is a past chairman of the Central United Methodist Church Board. She has been involved with the university's Full Circle Campus Food Pantry since its founding. Gearhart co-chaired two successful sales tax campaigns in the city. She is past president of the board of directors of Cooperative Emergency Outreach.

She is married to Dave Gearhart and they have two children and three grandchildren.
