2 file for LR board; 2 for Maumelle positions

Sandy Becker, the Little Rock School District's internal auditor, filed Thursday to run for a seat on the Little Rock Board of Directors during the Nov. 4 general election.

Becker, 53, filed for the Ward 6 position currently held by Vice Mayor Doris Wright, 55. So far, they are the only two to file for the seat.

Filings close at noon today for municipal candidates to file for election in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle and Cammack Village.

Also on Thursday, Grayson Shelton, 30, filed for Little Rock's Ward 1 seat. He'll face incumbent Erma Hendrix, 84, and two others who have filed for that seat so far: Robert Webb, 45, and Herbert Broadway, 55.

Little Rock directors are paid $18,000 annually for a four-year term with a $250 monthly office allowance.

In Maumelle, two people submitted applications Thursday seeking aldermen positions.

Michael OLeary, 69, will challenge Ward 2 Alderman Rick Anderson, 43, who had previously filed for re-election.

G. K. Timmons, 63, will run for the Ward 3 alderman's seat currently held by Alderman Burch Johnson. Johnson, 78, has announced he won't run again. Marion Scott, 64, previously filed for the expected open Ward 3 position.

Maumelle aldermen are paid $250 per meeting and serve four-year terms.
