FAYETTEVILLE -- Jason Clampit, 34, was arrested Tuesday for the second time in four days after he tried to stab a police officer with a large knife, according to a police report.

Clampit is being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond in connection with attempted capital murder, fleeing, carrying a weapon, loitering and resisting arrest.

Events leading to his latest arrest started about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday at the North Street Mini-Mart at 758 W. North St. when a police officer saw a man rummaging through a pickup parked at the convenience store. As the officer approached, Clampit reached for a knife that was in a sheath on his hip and started to run from the officer, according to the report.

The officer used his stun gun on Clampit who fell to the ground, according to the report. When the officer tried to arrest him, Clampit pulled the knife and attempted to stab the officer. The officer drew his pistol, Clampit dropped the knife and ran into a nearby creek, according to the report. Officers searched and didn't find Clampit.

Clampit was arrested without incident about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 49 near Wedington Drive. He was a passenger in a car en route to Dallas, according to the report.

Detectives with the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force arrested Clampit on Friday in connection with delivery of marijuana, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver (methamphetamine and oxycodone), possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, possession of firearm by a certain person, resisting arrest and aggravated assault. Two others also were arrested.

Clampit attempted to stab a police officer with a screwdriver Friday, according to a police report.

He was released Saturday from the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

Circuit Judge William A. Storey ordered the bond revoked Tuesday.
