Remember Korean War

To back up the published letter written by Andy Lucas in the July 29 edition, to this day I do not recall a recent news item, TV or newspaper mentioning the start or ending of the Korean War some 60 years ago. Truly, we fought the Forgotten War (1950-1953). Almost 40,000 Americans died in action and 100,000 or more were wounded. You would think these figures would rate a word or two. We soldiers did our duty the best we could with what we had, which is little consolation to those families that lost loved ones. To those of us that survived, we will never forget the sacrifice those brave comrades made.

It hasn't been publicized, but the South Korean government has published a book, "Korea Reborn: A Grateful Nation," that honors the veterans. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only country that has honored America's soldiers for defending their nation. If you wish to download a version of the book go to http://www.remembermyservice.com/Downloads/Korea-Reborn-Book-Preview.pdf.
