FAYETTEVILLE -- A man was arrested after admitting to police he was breaking into cars, according to an arrest report.

Vincent Moore, 29, of 210 Samuels Place in Farmington was arrested Friday in connection with possession of a controlled substance, breaking into a vehicle, theft of property and misdemeanor failure to pay costs and fines and violation of probation or a suspended sentence.

Moore was breaking into a pickup at the Econo Lodge at 1000 S. Futrall Drive when a police officer drove into the parking lot, according to an arrest report.

The officer asked Moore what he was doing.

"I'll be honest with you, I was breaking into that car," Moore said, according to the report.

Moore said he broke into four cars in front of the hotel and showed the officer which ones, according to the report. He took cash, a driver's license, credit card, checkbooks and electronics from a Ford Ranger that belonged to a hotel employee, according to the report.

All the items were returned to the employee.

Moore was being held Friday in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $8,030 bond.
