BELLA VISTA -- Summar Roachell took a big step towards completing a sweep of the two biggest tournaments on the Arkansas Women's Golf Association schedule with a solid round at the Bella Vista Country Club on Monday.

The University of Arkansas player overcame two early bogeys to post a 1-over-par 73 on Monday for a two-stroke lead after the first round of the AWGA Stroke Play Championship. Roachell won the AWGA Match Play Championships earlier this summer and will be a sophomore for the Razorbacks this fall.

Tanna Richard of Fort Smith is in second place after carding a 3-over 75. Grier Bennett of Hot Springs Village and Brenda Carr of Bentonville are tied for third at 4-over 76. Bennett is a member of the golf team at High Point University.

The second round will be held today with the final round teeing off Wednesday morning.

Roachell turned at 2-over 38, but the Conway native carded birdies at the par-5 12th and the par-3 14th.

Micah Radler of Fayetteville is alone in fourth place after a 5-over 77, while Rosetta Parks and Heidi Rice are both at 7-over 79.
