Civil War markers OK'd in 3 counties

Applications for Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Historical Markers have been approved for placement in three Arkansas counties.

The markers will be placed in Faulkner, Izard and Saline counties, said Tom Dupree, chairman of the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission.

A marker for "Cadron in the Civil War" will be at Cadron Settlement Park in Conway, Faulkner County. The marker is sponsored by the Faulkner County Historical Society.

"Wild Haws in the Civil War" will be placed at the junction of Izard County Roads 9 and 57 at LaCrosse. The Izard County Historical and Genealogical Society is the marker's sponsor.

"Saline County in the Civil War" will be placed on the grounds of the Saline County Courthouse in Benton. The marker is sponsored by the Saline County History and Heritage Society.

The commission's Historical Marker Program works with local partners to tell stories of how the Civil War affected communities in Arkansas. Application information and details on monthly sesquicentennial activities are available on the commission's website at arkansascivilwar150.com.
