SPRINGDALE -- Two people were arrested Sunday after authorities said a man was stabbed in the back.

George Vasquez, 18, no address given, was arrested in connection with felony second-degree battery. A 15-year-old was arrested in connection with misdemeanor third-degree battery and obstruction of governmental operations.

The arrests came after police received a report at 3:44 p.m. Sunday of a fight near the intersection of Emma Avenue and Bluestem Street. A 31-year-old man was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale after he was found bleeding from a stab wound in the back, according to a police news release.

The victim, who was not identified, was in stable condition with nonlife-threatening injuries on Sunday. Authorities could not address the victim's condition on Monday.

Vasquez was scheduled to be moved to the Washington County Detention Center on Monday to await a bond hearing. The 15-year-old was released Sunday to the custody of his parents.

The investigation is continuing and other arrests are possible, according to the news release.
