Correction: Edie Brickell is 48. An item below, provided by The Associated Press and relying on information from police, erroneously reported her age.

George Clooney - Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor - is getting hitched, according to a London law firm. Human-rights practice Doughty Street Chambers spilled the news Monday as it congratulated one of its own attorneys: 36-year-old U.K. barrister Amal Alamuddin. The firm said its lawyers and staff “offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin … and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement tobe married.” Clooney, 52, was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. He has since been romantically linked to several women, including British model Lisa Snowden, Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis and former professional wrestler Stacey Keibler. But he has always downplayed suggestions he might marry again, telling Esquire magazine last year: “I wasn’t very good at it.” The Beirut-born, Oxford University-educated Alamuddin is a member of Doughty Street’s international law team. Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, declined to comment.

Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, were arrested on disorderly conduct charges by officers investigating a family dispute, but the couple held hands in court Monday, and both said they did not feel threatened by the other. Simon told a Norwalk Superior Court judge that he had a rare argument with his wife Saturday night at their home in New Canaan, Conn. An attorney representing the couple, Allan Cramer, said the disturbance was very minor. At Monday’s hearing, Simon and Brickell each said the other was not a threat. Judge William Wenzel said he did not see a need for a protective order. Simon, 72, and Brickell, 47, were asked to return to court on May 16.
