Benton County

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., celebrates the National Day of Prayer with a service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd.

The Church Women United will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Bella Vista Presbyterian Church, 1800 Forest Hills Blvd.

Village Bible Evangelical Free Church in Bella Vista, 210 Town Center S.E., holds no adult or youth Sunday school classes Sunday, but children's classes will be available at 10 a.m.

The church offers several weekly Bible studies, including a women's study on "Jesus' Final Week," meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, led by Joanne Morris; a men's study of 2 Peter at 7 p.m. Tuesday, led by Ron Morris; a Hebrews study at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, led by Ron Morris.

The church sponsors several ministries that also meet weekly: a women's KniTTogether at 7 p.m Tuesday, the White Cross EFCA Women's Mission at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the Oasis Food Pantry, open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The church holds a family potluck meal at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday followed at 6:20 p.m. by a family praise and prayer fellowship and children's youth activities.

Bella Vista United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, collects a special offering for the malaria campaign of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Namibia, Africa. Envelopes set on the service and outreach table.

Representatives of the church attend the Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod Assembly in Tulsa, Okla., from Thursday through May 4.

The church offers exercise classes at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. ElderShare meets at 10 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month in the Quiet Room.

The church opens Abundant Life, a new contemporary worship service, at 5 p.m. May 11. A light supper precedes the service at 4 p.m.

First United Methodist Church in Rogers, 307 W. Elm St., commissions nine new Stephen Ministers during the worship service Sunday. Stephen Ministers offer care and support for people experiencing life difficulties.

Each commissioned lay person received 50 hours of intensive training and will continue with monthly education on topics such as effective listening, confidentiality, the stress of hospitalization, feelings and utilizing community resources.

First United Methodist has been a part of the Stephen Series for more than 15 years and has commissioned more than 80 other members.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, presents a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Classical piano students from Northwest Arkansas perform.

The church sponsors Pancake Day from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in Becker Hall. Cost is $6 per person and includes pancakes, ham or sausage, applesauce, coffee and milk. Proceeds fund the United Methodist Men's mission projects.

The church sponsors a caregivers support group at 9 a.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month in Room 5. A representative from the Area Agency on Aging speaks Monday. Bazaar workshops meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Thursday in the Quilt room.

A prayer service is offered at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday in the chapel.

The Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 501 S. 40th St., Rogers, plan Social Sunday with a potluck meal and activity at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The church offers Sunday school for children through age 15 using a Montessori approach based on an adaptation of Jerome Berryman's "Godly Play."

St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, presents the Mass team from the Little Portion Retreat and Training Center in Berryville at 2 p.m. May 4.

The church offers RICA classes for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith at 7 p.m. each Wednesday in Parish Hall. The crafters meet at 8 a.m. each Tuesday in the Parish Hall.

Highlands United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 371 Glasgow Road, sponsors the Highland Flea from 7 to 11 a.m. today. Items for sale include used items, jewelry, baked goods, a coffee shop, crafts and golf items. Proceeds are donated to local women's and children's charities.

The church opens its sanctuary for prayer marking the National Day of Prayer from 9 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Hummers sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 in the Fellowship Hall.

The church Education Teams plans a six-week Spiritual Growth Campaign from May 11 to June 15. The program is based on the film, "Son of God: The Life of Jesus in You," and will be presented via DVD by Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in California.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., presents Divine Appointment in concert at 6 p.m. May 4. Divine Appointment is a contemporary trio from Freedom Fellowship in Tontitown.

The church offers a special worship service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for those unable to attend a regular service. A light lunch follows the service, and transportation is available.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry opens from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday. This month's donation drive, "Each One -- Bring One," asks for donations of canned fruit, Jell-O and all other items.

Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road, presents its Haitian mission team in a "Haiti Reflections" lunch at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. The team provides a Haitian meal and a short presentation on their recent service trip to Haiti.

The church sponsors the monthly Forge men's dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The Vintage Gospel Lads present their farewell concert at 7 p.m. May 9 at the church. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken.

Enrollment is open for the fall 2014 semester at Little Sprouts Learning Center. Registration also is open for Camp Joshua summer camp, opening in June in Gentry.

Forest Hill Church in Bella Vista, 1702 Forest Hills Blvd., holds a weekly prayer time, Bible study and lunch each Wednesday.

New Wine Ministry in Bella Vista, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd., offers two study classes. A class on spiritual warfare and deliverance, led by Patricia Xavier, meets at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. A class on the Book of Revelation, also led by Xavier, meets at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at the Gallery Cafe, 167 Main St. in Decatur.

The church sponsors a food pantry at 307 N. Main St. in Decatur. The pantry, under United Christian Charities, is open from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday and Wednesday. A thrift store also operates at 11175 N. Arkansas 59 outside of Gravette. Donations welcome.

Washington County

St. James United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 5 N. Willow Ave., sponsors its annual "Family & Friends" service at 11 a.m. Sunday, when members invite guests to attend. The children help lead the service. A meal is served following the service.

Caudle Avenue Baptist Church in Springdale, 404 Caudle Ave., serves its free Community Meal at 5 p.m. today. The evening includes a drawing for Walmart gift cards for those who register.

Brush Creek Baptist Church in Elm Springs, 1386 Brush Creek Road Suite 60, presents the Brush Creek Boys in a concert, "Where it all Began," at 6 p.m. May 4. A potluck fellowship follows the concert.
