Vote Against Assessment Hike

The Bella Vista Property Owners Association is at it again. They are going to ask for an increase in the monthly assessment. While claiming they need more money, they are projecting a $303,000 surplus (on a previous mailing) by the end of last year. Where is the need to raise assessments? They no longer have police, fire and street departments under their control.

The POA Board should consider lowering the assessments. These are hard times for people and most get little use of the amenities. If they need more money, raise golf and other fees so that the people who use them pay for them. An increase from $24, for instance, to $37 is an exorbitant amount. In the present time many families are struggling to make ends meet and this will be an added burden.

Perhaps a better answer would be to look at the POA budget, including salaries, and start there before increasing other people's debts. As you vote please consider all the facts.

Please exercise your right to vote and vote against an assessment increase.

'Prophet' Thompson Speaks

So Doug Thompson (April 13) claims a political storm has passed over the country and that his beloved Democrats are safe from any political changes in 2014. What a shock. Who is surprised that the John Brummett of Northwest Arkansas would ever say anything to help sway the minds of us Arkansans in favor of his cherished party? He joins MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times in doing their best to keep Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and all their liberal friends in power.

Mark Pryor has nothing to worry about, according to Doug and his left-leaning poll numbers. Everything will be status quo after the 2014 election.

Thanks Doug. I guess I won't bother voting in November. Besides being the loudest Democratic voice in Northwest Arkansas, you are also a prophet.

Thanks For Recycling

On behalf of all the volunteers of the Bella Vista Recycling Center, as well as the numerous local qualified nonprofit organizations to which we provide funds, I wish to thank the people of the community for their continued support.

The center is staffed by volunteers every day of the year, and all net proceeds from the recyclables we sell are given to local nonprofits. Donations of recyclable products to the center enabled us to provide $217,000 in 2013 to those charities/organizations, while recycling over

5.5 million pounds of materials that otherwise would have gone to landfills.

This would not have

been possible without the support of the community. We thank the community and welcome anyone to tour our center at their convenience.
