Land Donations To Benefit Bentonville Trails

BENTONVILLE -- A land donation will allow the Parks and Recreation Department to connect a gap in the mountain bike trail that runs parallel to the Crystal Bridges Trail.

The City Council accepted the donation from the Bentonville/Bella Vista Trailblazers at its Tuesday meeting.

There's about a 100-foot gap in the All American Trail where cyclists use the hard-surface Crystal Bridges Trail as a connection, said David Wright, parks and recreation director.

The land is about 500 square feet, according to city documents.

"That one little tiny piece allows us to come back and connect those two trails," Wright said. "The mountain bikers will never have to exit onto the hard surface trail at all."

Wright was unsure of when work on the connecting piece would begin as there's no money in the department's budget set aside for the project.

The Bentonville/Bella Vista Trailblazers is a nonprofit organization working with municipalities to build trails.

The group also donated nearly nine acres for the Wishing Springs Trail connecting the Lake Bella Vista Trail to the North Bentonville Trail. The City Council accepted that land donation Tuesday as well.
