Book Donations Needed For Fayetteville School's Annual Charlie Brown Book Sale

FAYETTEVILLE -- Students at Vandergriff Elementary School are collecting used books for their annual Charlie Brown Book Sale.

Proceeds will be donated to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. Sherri Wheeler, a third-grade teacher at Vandergriff, started the sale more than 10 years ago in honor of her chocolate Labrador she adopted from the shelter. The dog, Charlie Brown, is now 12 years old and a friend to most students at the school.

Gently used children's and adult books may be dropped off during regular office hours between now and May 17 at the front office at Vandergriff, 2975 E. Township St., or at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 1640 S. Armstrong Ave.

The sale will be held May 21 and 22 at the school from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Hardbacks are $1, and paperbacks are 50 cents. Last year's sale raised $6,250 for the shelter.
