Max Deitchler, a Fayetteville lawyer, will replace the late John Logan Burrow as Washington County's election commission chairman.
The Washington County Democratic Central Committee appointed him to the position Monday. He will serve until early next year.
Peter Loris and Renee Oelschlaeger, a Republican, are the other two commissioners. The Democrats get to choose two of the three county commissioners because the party has the majority of the state's constitutional officers. The commission supervises elections and counts and certifies votes.
Burrow died in early March. He served on the commission for 20 twenty years.
