Youth hunters got the 2014 spring turkey season off to a good start last weekend across Arkansas. During the special three-day youth season which ran April 12-14, youths killed 1,324 gobblers, a slight increase over 1,307 killed during the 2013 youth turkey hunting season. Of those, 1,035 were adult gobblers and 289 were juvenile toms or “jakes.” The statewide turkey season began Saturday and will continue through May 4.
