Northwest Arkansas 10, Tulsa 6

Northwest Arkansas used its best offensive night of the season to earn a road win and snap the 10-game losing streak that was a franchise high since moving to Springdale.

The Naturals (3-11) had 11 hits in the 10-6 win, leading 7-2 early and holding off a Drillers' rally for the win.

Left fielder Whit Merrifield went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the top of the second inning and scored three runs to lead the way in the victory. He scored as part of a three-run sixth inning to stretch the lead to 7-2, but Tulsa (6-8) responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut it to 7-6.

But Northwest Arkansas added several insurance runs and starter Andy Ferguson (1-0) picked up the win. The teams will meet at 7:05 tonight for the third game in the four-game series.

Van Buren 2, Springdale High 2 (6-5 Van Buren PKs)

Springdale High senior Taylor Wyatt scored two goals in regulation, but the Lady Bulldogs suffered a tough shootout loss on the road Thursday night.

Springdale (6-9, 1-3 7A/6A-West) throttled Van Buren 7-0 in a late March nonconference win at home, but Thursday's loss was a missed opportunity to earn a key conference win and better its chances of qualifying for state against a struggling Van Buren team. The Lady Bulldogs will host Bentonville next next week.

Rogers High 0, Fayetteville 0 (2-0 PKs)

Rogers High keeper Kiara Henry made three big saves in penalty kicks and Madison Dake and Mackenzie Muirhead scored penalty kicks to lift the Lady Mounties (7-6, 3-1) to a key conference victory. Henry stopped Fayetteville's first three penalty kicks and their fourth attempt sailed over the goal.

"Great win for us," Rogers coach Taylor Hayes-Vacarro said. "It was the best game we've played all year. We finally are playing well, and we have the total team effort that we need."
