The Boardwalk Bar & Grill celebrates one year
Located in Signature Plaza near Crossover Road and Joyce Boulevard, The Boardwalk Bar & Grill celebrated one year of business April 10.
Along with the milestone, several new menu items were revealed.
The new items include The Coral Reef ($18), Stuffed Mahi ($19) and beer-battered fish and chips ($13).
The Coral Reef ($18) is sauteed shrimp and scallops served on angel hair pasta tossed in spicy alfredo sauce with spinach, tomatoes, lightly battered eggplant strips, parmesan and parsley.
A baked and stuffed mahi mahi ($19) has a creamy parmesan-and-crab filling and is served with a choice of two sides.
Hand-prepared, beer-battered cod fillets ($13) are served with beer-battered fries and vinegar-and-oil-based coleslaw.
Throughout the month of April, all entrees each Thursday are buy one and get one half off. Each weekend in April, select appetizers are half price. These offers are good on dine-in or carry-out orders.
Draft beer pints are also discounted to $2, all day, every day in April.

Ozark Natural Foods speaks on Whole Foods rumor
More evidence has surfaced recently that national retailer Whole Foods is prospecting locations in Fayetteville. Plans recently turned up showing a possible Whole Foods going in next to Lewis Ford on North College Avenue.
In response to the release of the building plans, the marketing director of Ozark Natural Foods, Alexa McGriff, posted this blog:
"We are excited to have another natural and organic food store here in Fayetteville. The more access that people have to healthy foods in our city, the better it is for our community...
"With any business, competition is realistic. We've had several similar businesses move into the Northwest Arkansas community in the past few years and it was inevitable that Whole Foods Market would follow suit...
"We also believe that because we are a co-op, we offer a different business model and an extra value -- that of the community actually owning our business. We are locally owned and put back as much as possible into the local economy. In 2013 alone, we gave back over $3,941,850 to the local community.
"We encourage people to check Whole Foods Market out when they move to town, and to visit us as well to see and learn the differences between us, along with what we have in common."

New pastry shop serves signature treats
Even though The Fayetteville Pastry Shop only opened Jan. 9, owner and pastry chef Robyn Bowen has already built a loyal following. With credentials including two associate's degrees from The Culinary Institute of America and four years as lead pastry chef at Bordinos restaurant, there is good cause for that patronage.
Located at 6315 Wedington Drive, near Penguin Ed's West in Fayetteville, The Fayetteville Pastry Shop specializes in gourmet edible art with hand-crafted chocolates, breakfast pastries and individual-sized confections.
The shop is open daily, serves Onyx drip coffee, takes orders for private parties and offers wholesale desserts to local restaurants.

Chef of Mezza Luna opens Mexican restaurant
After years of producing Italian cuisine, owner and chef Juan Barcenas has returned to his roots and has opened a Mexican restaurant with Tex-Mex offerings in the former Mezza Luna location. The restaurant is set just north of Baum Stadium and Barcenas hopes to attract the business lunch crowd and college-aged students.

Best Frickin Chicken opens restaurant location
Best Frickin Chicken in Town opened as a food truck in Fayetteville, and just about a year later owners Clayton Scott and Jeannette Beltram celebrated a grand opening of the brick-and-mortar location. The restaurant is situated at 509 W. Spring Street, at the former Feltner Brothers location in the Metro District.
The menu features bone-in fried chicken breasts, wings and thighs. Meals are served with a waffle and choice of side. Desserts include fried pies. Beer and wine are served, and in addition to 40 indoor seats there is a large outdoor deck.
The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday-Sunday and is closed on Mondays. Thursday through Saturday the restaurant stays open late until 3 a.m.
