Joyce Carol Oates To Speak, Sign Books

Renowned author Joyce Carol Oates will travel to Northwest Arkansas to give a free reading at 7 p.m. Monday at the Fayetteville Town Center as part of the University of Arkansas Programs in Creative Writing and Translation Distinguished Readers Series.

The New York native is the author of more than 50 novels and dozens of short story collections and children's books, 40 of which have been included on the New York Times list of notable books of the year.

She is best known for her novels "What I Lived For," "Blonde," and "Black Water," all of which were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.

Oates also will meet with students in the master of fine arts program in creative writing. Books will be for sale at the venue and signing will follow the reading. Admission is free. Call 575-5991 for information.
