Arkansas' unemployment rate falls to 6.9%

Arkansas' unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent in March, down two-tenths of a percentage point from 7.1 percent in February, the state Department of Workforce Services said Friday.

The state's civilian labor force remained unchanged, as the addition of 2,400 workers offset the loss of 2,400 others, the department said.

"Arkansas’ unemployment rate dropped below seven percent in March for the first time since January 2009.," Workforce Services spokesman Becky Heflin said in a statement. "This is the sixth consecutive month that Arkansas’ jobless rate has declined.”
