ARKANSAS STATE 6, MEMPHIS 4

Arkansas State scored two runs in the eighth inning on a hit and a walk, both with the bases loaded, to defeat Memphis on Tuesday night at FedEx Field in Memphis.

With the scored tied 4-4 and one out in the eighth, the Red Wolves (21-16) put two runners on with a hit batter and a walk. After a single by Tyler Hardie, Eric Wilcoxson was hit by a pitch to give ASU a 5-4 lead. Austin Baker drew a walk to push the margin to 6-4. Russ McNickle, the pitching coach for Memphis (19-19) was ejected for arguing with the home plate umpire during the at-bat.

UALR 7, LOUISIANA TECH 6

Trailing 6-0 in the sixth inning, UALR rallied to defeat Louisiana Tech at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock on Tuesday night.

Bryson Thionnet’s sacrifice fly and Drew Merten’s two-run single allowed the Trojans (14-20) to cut the margin to 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth. In the seventh, Ben Crumpton added another run when he singled, stole second and third, and scored on Tanner Rockwell’s sacrifice bunt.

In the eighth, Sam Vogel scored on a wild pitch to trim the margin to 6-5. Then with runners at the corners, Crumpton hit a double down the right field line to score Merten and Vogel and give the Trojans a 7-6 lead.

Ethan Schlechte and Tanner Rockwell, who earned his second save, combined to shut down Louisiana Tech in the ninth. Stephen Chandler (1-0) earned the victory after allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 1 strikeout and 4 walks.

UAPB 8-6, JARVIS CHRISTIAN 3-2

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (14-22) scored six runs in the sixth inning to defeat Jarvis Christian (28-15) 6-2 and complete a doubleheader sweep Tuesday at Torii Hunter Complex in Pine Bluff. UAPB won the first game 8-3.

Isias Alcantar’s pinch-hit, bases-loaded single drove in two runs to start the rally for the Golden Lions. UAPB also benefited from a bases-loaded walk and two Jarvis Christian errors in the inning.
