Washington Regional honors dedication at gala

Kathy Grisham and Faith in Action were honored at the annual Washington Regional Gala and Eagle Awards April 8 at Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville.

The gala was presented by the Washington Regional Foundation and Walmart/ Sam’s Club. Along with the Eagle Awards presentation, the event included “An Evening of Country Music” with Joe Nichols and Backroad Anthem. Bill Bradley, president and chief executive officer of Washington Regional Medical Center, said Washington Regional takes its role as the area’s leading health system very seriously.

“As the area’s only not-for-profit, community-owned and locally governed medical center, Washington Regional is uniquely able to respond to the community’s needs,” Bradley said.

He said they saw a need for expanded neuroscience services at the hospital.

Funds raised from the gala will benefit a neurosurgical hybrid operating suite at Washington Regional Medical Center. The preliminary total for the amount raised is more than $85,000, said Gina Maddox, who is in marketing and public relations at Washington Regional Medical Center.

The Eagle Award for Outstanding Health Leadership is given to individuals or organizations that makesignificant contributions to the improvement of healthcare in Northwest Arkansas, according to an event press release. Grisham is the executive director of Community Clinic. In a video shown at the event, she accepted the award and said she was “deeply moved by this recognition from the foundation.” She noted that there are many others who have been a part of this and that there is a team working to implement the next evolution of healthcare for Northwest Arkansas.

Faith in Action is a volunteer-based organization that provides homebound seniors with free nonmedical services to help promote their independence, dignity and quality of life. Marc Campbell, chairman of the Faith in Action Advisory Board, accepted the award in a pre-taped video.

“All the credit for this award of course goes to our wonderful, great volunteers. I’m humbled by the work that they do each day to take time out of their lives to make a difference in homebound seniors’ lives,” Campbell said.
