Gearhead Outfitters to open in Rogers

Gearhead Outfitters will open a store in the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers on Friday. The Arkansas-based, family-owned and operated shop is owned by Ted and Amanda Herget and specializes in outdoor lifestyle clothing and footwear. Gearhead features more than 50 brands including The North Face, Patagonia and Chaco and Arkansas-based brands such as Fayettechill and Nativ.

Jake Coe, manager of Gearhead in the Mall at Turtle Creek in Jonesboro, will move to Rogers to manage the new store.

The Hergets started Gearhead in 1997 in a home in Jonesboro. The company currently operates three stores in Jonesboro, one in Shreveport and two in Little Rock.

Son purchases Alternative Design

Grant Loyd bought Alternative Design Manufacturing & Supply in Siloam Springs on Jan.1 from his parents, Eddie and Georga Loyd.

The Loyds began their company in 1987. Alternative Design specializes in stainless-steel fabrication of cages for laboratory animal research, poultry science and commercial poultry industries.

Purchase of the company is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Grant Loyd, who pledges to maintain the culture with no expected changes in day-to-day operations.

Eddie Loyd will stay on as the vice president of business development, working with new product development and new markets, while remaining a member of the board of directors with his wife.

Grant Loyd has been involved with the company since its beginning.

Sola Salon Studios holds grand opening

Sola Salon Studios will celebrate the grand opening of its 6,000-square-foot Bentonville location from 3-6 p.m. Thursday. The salon is at 1000 S.E. Walton Blvd. in the Fountain Plaza.

Jim and Donna Banwart are the local franchisees.

The salon opened March 22 and is the first Sola Salon Studios in Northwest Arkansas. Sola has more than 150 locations in 35 states.

First State becomes Today’s Bank

First State Bank of Northwest Arkansas changed its name to Today’s Bank.

The bank has four locations, including the newest branch at 2971 N. College Ave., Fiesta Square, Fayetteville.

Other branches are at 300 N. College Ave.; 312 W. Main St., Huntsville; and 432 Madison 1650, U.S. 412 Bypass, Huntsville.

The bank held a ribbon-cutting Friday and grand opening Saturday celebrating the name change. It is also holding a food drive for the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank in recognition of Hunger Awareness Month.

Larry Olson, president and chief executive officer, said the bank recently passed a milestone of $100 million in assets. The bank was chartered in 1991 and is owned by Mathias Bancshares Inc. of Springdale, led by Sam Mathias.

Best Frickin Chicken opens Tuesday

Best Frickin Chicken in Town is hosting its official grand opening celebration Tuesday through Saturday. The restaurant at 509 W. Spring St., Suite 210, opened March 14.

The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the restaurant offering a $5 lunch special.

Clayton Scott and Jeanette Beltram started the business in a food truck 11 months ago. The brick-and-mortar site has 40 seats inside and a wooden deck for outdoor dining.
