Sunday, April 13, 2014

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Beaver Watershed Alliance is encouraging residents to submit their best photos taken during the past year in the Beaver Lake watershed for a chance to win a digital camera.

Participants have until May 31 to enter the contest.

Photos must be submitted online at beaverwatershedalliance.org or the alliance's Facebook page. Only one photo is allowed per person.

Judges will look for striking images of nature, highlighting the diversity of habitats, plants and/or wildlife in the Beaver Lake watershed.

The watershed includes Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area, Withrow Springs State Park, Lake Atalanta, Lake Sequoyah, Lake Wilson, War Eagle Creek and Beaver Lake.

First prize is a Nikon Coolpix AW110 camera package from Bedford Camera & Video. Second prize is a gallery wrap canvas print from Bedford, and third prize is an excursion for two to Van Buren and back on the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad.

Winners will be announced June 7 during War Eagle Appreciation Day at Withrow Springs State Park. Photos will be posted to the Beaver Watershed Alliance's website.

The alliance is a nonprofit organization working to improve water quality within the roughly 766,000-acre Beaver Lake watershed. Beaver Lake provides drinking water for more than 300,000 people in Northwest Arkansas.
