Karen Fetzer

Where I live: I live in the Oaks neighborhood of Chenal in west Little Rock with my husband, Jerry, and Dausy, our 8-year-old chocolate Lab.

Occupation: Executive director of The Rotary Club of Little Rock “Club 99.”

My favorite space is: My combination kitchen/den.

Why? These spaces function in so many wonderful ways. The den is full of windows and opens onto a covered porch, which runs the length of the house, giving the den the feel of a sunroom. The kitchen area is a great space for friends to hang out, especially since it is open to the den. I would say the kitchen area is truly my domain, as I love to cook and entertain. It is large enough to accommodate more than one cook at a time, and I love to have friends and family cooking with me. So many memories of family gatherings have been made in these spaces. The den is large enough to host sports watching events and still can have an intimate feeling for smaller gatherings. I look forward to coming home and relaxing in the space every day.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Actually, I am pretty content with the space. If I am ever feeling lonely or sad, I can cook in the kitchen or relax in the den and be reminded of happy times. It is very comforting.
