Student arrested in threat at school

A 12-year-old Hartford student was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a felony charge after he said he wanted to blow up the school because he was upset with school rules about a playground game, a Sebastian County sheriff’s office news release states.

It’s the second arrest of a Hartford student in a month for making threatening statements at school.

The release states that investigators with the sheriff’s office were called to the school about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. During their investigation, they found enough information to arrest the student on a chargeof terroristic threatening and detained him at the Sebastian County Juvenile Detention Center.

School was dismissing for the day at about the time of the call, so it was not evacuated. No students at the school were injured or threatened, according to the release.

A 16-year-old Hartford High School student was arrested by sheriff’s deputies March 18 on a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening, a felony. According to the sheriff’s office, the student made a threat to two other students March 14 that he would take a gun to school and shoot everyone.
