BASKETBALL Arkansas’ Wagner transferring

Guard Dee Wagner, who played 37 minutes in eight games this season as a sophomore, is transferring from Arkansas, Coach Mike Anderson announced Tuesday.

Wagner saw his playing time fall off from his freshman season, when he played 126 minutes in 20 games, including a start against Oklahoma. He averaged 1.3 points in 28 games in two seasons.

Anderson called Wagner a model student-athlete in a news release and wished him luck. Wagner, who came to Arkansas from Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria, La., thanked the coaching staff and his teammates in the news release, saying things didn’t work out the way he had planned but that he enjoyed his two years with the Razorbacks.

Wagner’s transfer means Arkansas has at least two scholarships to offer in the spring signing period. The Razorbacks have a commitment from Jabril Durham, a point guard who averaging 21.2 points and 6.7 assists at Seminole (Okla.) State Junior College this season.
