— The hits piled up for Bentonville's baseball team Tuesday afternoon, no matter which pitcher Springdale High used.

The Tigers banged out 12 hits and scored a run in every inning they batted en route to a 15-3 victory in the first game of a 7A/6A-West Conference doubleheader at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

"It was definitely contagious, no question," Bentonville coach Todd Abbott said. "We're able to take advantage of what was given. Preston Rosales did a great job throwing strikes and get us right back in here to hit. It was a good night."

Bentonville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI by Brian Gloeckler, a double steal and a sacrifice fly by Cody Scroggins. The Tigers then blew things open in the second when they sent 12 batters to the plate against three Springdale pitchers.

Paul Rouse's leadoff single and back-to-back RBI doubles Troy Cahill and Will Jibas were enough to chase Springdale starter Carson Johnson (0-1). Reliever Chandler Fuller fared no better as Bentonville batted around before the first out was recorded and scored eight times for an 11-0 cushion.

"It starts with starting pitching," Springdale coach Billy Ray Rutledge said. "You have to go out there and throw strikes. They did a good job of swinging the bats, and we let them have some walks here and there. Our guys got a little timid because we weren't throwing strikes."

Rosales (4-1) pitched three scoreless innings and allowed one over three innings before Carter Brown relieved.

Kasey Ford threw a no-hitter, and Bentonville broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the second en route to a doubleheader sweep.

Ford (3-3), a sophomore right-hander, struck out six and walked one in a six-inning performance. Springdale (6-12, 1-5) picked up its runs through a double steal following two batters and an error after Ford's only walk.

The Tigers (12-4, 3-3) did all of their damage after two were out in the second. Blake Werner scored the go-ahead run when he singled, took second on a wild pitch and came home on a single by Paul Rouse, who then scored on Troy Cahill's double.

Cahill finished with three hits and two walks and drove in three runs, while Kane Koenigseder had two hits and four RBIs for Bentonville, which scored seven unanswered runs and forced the 10-run rule after Cahill's two-run single in the sixth.

Matt Sherry (4-2) took the loss for Springdale.
