FAYETTEVILLE — A Whole Foods Market could be coming to Fayetteville.

A company that builds Whole Foods stores across the country last week submitted plans for a commercial development at 3535 N. College Ave. — where a Mercedes-Benz dealership used to be located north of Lewis Ford and south of Millsap Road.

Site plans from Georgia-based S.J. Collins Enterprises show a 35,500-square-foot “major tenant” building with three smaller retail shops and 323 parking spaces. A preliminary drawing clearly identifies the major tenant building as a Whole Foods Market.

The company, based in Austin, Texas, specializes in natural and organic foods.

City planners and engineers are scheduled to review technical aspects of the development during a 9 a.m. meeting Wednesday at the City Administration Building, 113 W. Mountain St. The Planning Commission could consider plans as early as May 12.
