Fayetteville theater company TheatreSquared will stage William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with Grant Goodman in the title role, 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday through May 4 at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios, 505 W. Spring St., Fayetteville.

Goodman has appeared in more than 50 Shakespeare productions, including roles at Lincoln Center, the Old Globe, the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

The cast also includes Amy Herzberg, Bryce Kemph, Kathy Logelin, James Odom, Courtneay Sanders, Jason Shipman, John T. Smith and Troy Schremmer. Broadway veteran Sean Patrick Reilly, who previously directed Period of Adjustment for TheatreSquared, where he appeared in two shows, and whose professional credits include 14 productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, directs.

Bluesday Tuesday

Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers - Newport native and lifetime resident Sonny Burgess, keyboard player Kern Kennedy, drummer and vocalist Bobby Crafford, vocalist Jim Aldridge and vocalist and guitarist Fred Douglass - will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Newport Country Club, 703 Walker Drive, Newport, part of Jonesboro public radio station KASU-FM, 91.9’s, Bluesday Tuesday lineup. Admission is free. Inclement weather postponed the original December show. The station will pass the hat to pay the band. Sinbad show

Summer academy

Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock, will host the Wildwood Academy for Music & the Arts for students from age 6 to college, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. June 9-July 18.

The academy will offer instruction in piano and all-orchestral instrument groups (strings, winds, brass and percussion) in a single three-week session for orchestras and three two-week sessions for “Wild Music” and chamber music programs.

Students will also have access to classes in visual, theater and culinary arts as well as naturalist studies. Through a partnership with the Pulaski County Special School District, some components of the academy will take place at nearby Chenal Elementary School, connected by a handicapped-accessible woodland path to Wildwood. Each session will include public performances and exhibits by students, faculty and guests.

Tatiana Roitman Mann, who became Wildwood’s full-time music director in January, is heading up the academy. Tuition is $500 a week; scholarships are available.
