Sidewalk Work To Close Sang Avenue, Halsell Road In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- A half-mile stretch of Sang Avenue and Halsell Road will be closed to traffic for several months while Transportation Division crews install sidewalks, storm drain pipes, curb and gutter.

The work, between Cross Avenue and Loren Circle, is to begin Monday and last through June, according to Keith Shreve, assistant transportation manager. Work hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Detour routes will be marked.

The heavily wooded stretch of Sang and Halsell is two lanes with no sidewalks or curb and gutter. Work will be done on the south side of Halsell and the west side of Sang.

It's being paid for out of the Transportation Division's 2014 capital improvement budget, which includes money from a half-cent sales tax Arkansas voters approved in 2012.

Material costs are about $122,000.
