Rogers Man Sentenced To 14 Years For Rape

BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man was sentenced to 14 years in prison Thursday after he admitted he raped a woman.

Scott James Haid, 51, pleaded guilty to rape, a Class Y felony, and two counts of domestic battering in the third degree, a Class D felony. The plea came under an agreement Scott McElveen, Haid's attorney, reached with Stuart Cearley, chief deputy prosecutor.

Haid was arrested June 24. A woman reported a man broke into her home and raped her, according to court documents.

The woman said she went to bed and later woke up and went into her kitchen when she heard a loud crash at her front door. The woman said she saw Haid in her home. The woman said Haid physically assaulted her and then raped her.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Haid's guilty plea.

Haid was sentenced to 14 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He also must abide by a 10-year suspended sentence agreement after his release from prison.

He will be required to register as a sex offender, and he will be evaluated for sex offender issues while in prison or at Ozark Guidance in Springdale. Haid also must pay $2,120 in court costs.
