Village Bible Evangelical Free Church in Bella Vista, 210 Town Center S.E., sponsors members of the church in Sparkles, a litter pick up program of the Bella Vista Property Owners Association. Participants meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. today.

A family potluck meal begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed at 6:30 p.m. by family praise and prayer fellowship and children's activities. Jamie and Mark Farran, missionaries with EFCA Reach Global, speak about their planned ministry in Romania.

Bella Vista United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, sponsors a men's breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The dates of monthly breakfasts have been changed. The men meet the second Tuesday of each month.

The church sponsors a Flapjack Fundraiser from 8 to 9:30 a.m. April 12 at Beef O'Brady's restaurant in Bentonville. The fundraiser benefits the youth summer mission trip. Tickets are $5 and available through Sunday.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, sponsors the United Methodist Men in a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The meal includes salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, corn and salad from Papa Mike's. Charlie Teal, chairman of the Bella Vista Property Owners Association board, will present the program.

A family evening for rEcess Special Needs begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Becker Hall.

St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, sponsors the women of the church in a monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the church hall. Cindy Crawford, chief executive officer of Hanna House, speaks on "Where Life Meets Love."

The church accepts socks for a Lenten sock drive for Shoe Box Ministry. Collection boxes set in the Church narthex and parish hall.

Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road, will hold its annual all-church spaghetti dinner and dessert auction at 4:45 p.m. April 13. The event will be held at Riordan Hall. Redemption's Call Gospel quartet will provide music throughout the evening. There is no charge for the meal, but all donations will go for the upcoming student ministries summer CIY trip.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Shepherds Food Pantry -- open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Pantry organizers request donations for Easter bags: cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, toothpaste and baby wipes. Containers for donations sit in the Fellowship Hall entry and the church narthex.

Washington County

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 225 N. East Ave., presents Scarlett Lewis, a Fayetteville native, speaking at 7:30 p.m. Thursday about her nonprofit foundation created after the death of her son, Jesse, one of the children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn. She is developing a school-based program to help children learn how to turn an angry thought into a loving thought.

Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 1910 N. Old Wire Road, presents Spencer L. Allen in a lecture from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The lecture is titled "The Seven or Eight (but not 10) Plagues of Egypt: Divergent Biblical Traditions in Exodus 7-14 and Psalm 105."

Allen currently serves as the theologian-in-residence at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers. He holds a doctorate in Hebrew Bible and Assyriology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's of theological studies in scripture and interpretation from Harvard Divinity School.
