Bathroom Threat Found at Third Rogers School

ROGERS -- Police are investigating a threat found in a girls bathroom at Birch Kirksey Middle School on Friday morning.

The school wasn't evacuated and parents were notified, said Ashley Kelley Siwiec, school spokeswoman. Additional security was requested as a precaution, Siwiec said.

"Police did not feel there was an immediate danger requiring the school to evacuate, lockdown or dismiss," she said.

Detectives will review security footage to identify who wrote the note, said Keith Foster, police spokesman.

The threat didn't mention danger to any particular person, Foster said. Rogers police treat all threats as legitimate, he said.

A message from Mel Ahart, school principal, asked parents to talk with children about the seriousness of prank threats.

Students can be suspended or expelled for making threats, according to district policy.

On Thursday students spotted a threatening note in a girls bathroom at Rogers Heritage High School in the morning and, that afternoon, a barely visible note written in a girls bathroom at Elmwood Middle School. Police continue to investigate both notes, Foster said.
