Performers Take To The Streets For First Friday In Bentonville

BENTONVILLE -- Today marks the season's second First Friday hosted by Downtown Bentonville.

Events will be fashioned after European street fairs and will highlight performers such as jugglers, stilt walkers, fire-eaters and magicians, according to a news release.

Festivities will begin with midday programs at 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. and continue with the main event from 5 to 8 p.m. on the square.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the crowning of the king or queen of the 2014 Bentonville Buskers by voting for their favorite performer by dropping dollars or coins into the donation box of their favorite act. Performers will be in four locations around the square.

Busking is entertaining and performing in public for gratuity. Downtown Bentonville will have "Busker Bucks" available for purchase at the information tent across from the Benton County Courthouse. They will be sold 25 bucks for $20.

The performer who gathers the most bucks will be crowned at 8 p.m.
