Fayetteville Offers Spring Cleanup Saturday

Friday, April 4, 2014

FAYETTEVILLE -- The second of four spring bulky waste cleanups is scheduled for Saturday.

Residents can dispose of large items that don't fit in their curbside trash carts from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations: Vandergriff Elementary School, 2975 E. Township St.; and the Fayetteville Recycling and Trash Collection facility, 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road.

Electronics, tires and household hazardous waste will not be accepted. Those items can be taken to the Washington County special waste collection site, 2615 Brink Drive, during normal business hours -- from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of each month.

Yard waste, such as tree limbs and grass clippings, can be taken to the city's compost facility, 1708 S. Armstrong Ave. The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon the first and second Saturday of the month.

The city will take only one freon-bearing appliance for free Saturday. It costs $20 to dispose of each additional appliance to cover freon removal.

Residents are asked to bring a recent copy of their water bill to verify they live in Fayetteville.
