Flyfishers Host Class, Tournament

Tightlines Flyfishers will hold two events to benefit Reel Recovery, which provides fishing retreats for cancer survivors.

A five-session beginner fly fishing class that starts at 6 p.m. today. Classes are in the meeting room at Cabela's in Rogers and last 90 minutes to two hours.

All topics are covered, from equipment to fly casting. Equipment is furnished. Students only need to bring a notebook and pen.

Cost is a $25 tax-deductible donation to Reel Recovery.

The group will hold a white bass fly fishing tournament on April 26. Check-in is at 7 a.m. at Saddlebock Brewery, 18244 Habberton Road, in Springdale. Anglers may fish wherever they want, but must be back at the brewery by 3 p.m.

Measuring tapes are provided and anglers must take a photo of their fish on the tape. The longest white bass wins.

Food and refreshments will be served after the tournament. There will a fly-casting contest, prize drawings and auctions.
