West Fork, Prairie Grove Early Voting Opens

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Early voting begins today for special elections in Prairie Grove and West Fork.

The election is April 8 for West Fork's mayoral race and an annexation vote in Prairie Grove. State law allows voting a week in advance.

Until next Monday, residents of either city can cast votes at the Washington County Courthouse, 280 N. College Ave.

West Fork Mayor Frances Hime abruptly resigned in November, citing family concerns. Alderman Charlie Rossetti has been serving since, and he and Steve Winkler are vying for the spot.

Prairie Grove voters will decide if the city annexes a strip of land just south of Highway 62 along the town's southern border. The land is planned for a highway bypass.

The county courthouse is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Polls will be open April 8 at the West Fork Community Center and the First Baptist Church of Prairie Grove from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
