TENNIS Tour de Paul begins this week

The USTA Pro Circuit’s St. Vincent Tour de Paul, which has run consecutively since 1984, will begin today with the wildcart pre-qualifying tournament at Rebsamen Park in Little Rock. A spot in next week’s main draw is up for grabs through Thursday. Singles qualifying will begin Saturday, with the main draw beginning April 8 at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock. The singles and doubles finals will be played Sunday at Pleasant Valley Country Club.

Austin Krajicek, a former Texas A&M player, won the singles event last year and has raised his world ranking more than 100 spots to No. 211 in the year since.

Lady Reddies lead Natural State Women’s Classic

Henderson State, one of five of the state Division II schools competing at Red Apple Inn Golf Course, holds a seven-shot slead after the opening round of the Natural State Women’s Golf Classic in Heber Springs

The Lady Reddies (310) leads Arkansas Tech (317) and Central Oklahoma in the team standings. Five of the 14 teams in the event are from Arkansas colleges, including sixth-place Harding (349), ninth-place Southern Arkansas (358), and Ouachita Baptist (470) which is in 13th.

Three Lady Reddies are in the top five: Katie Flinn (74) and Kendall Earp (74) are tied for second. Allyson Harris (75) is tied with Arkansas Tech’s Rebecka Surtevall in fourth. Caroline Fredensborg (79) is tied for eighth. Harding’s top golfer is Brittany Marquez (83), who is 16th.

Mann leads, UCA team tied for first

Central Arkansas junior Kendra Mann is the top individual after two rounds of the Houston Baptist Husky Invitational at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas, and the UCA team is tied with Louisiana-Monroe and and Lamar with a 619 total. Mann, a junior from Harrah, Okla., shot 149. UCA’s Sarah Brown (154) is tied for ninth overall. Malin Senneryd (156) is tied for 14th and Frida Svensson (161) is tied for 26th. Carly Dear (165) is tied for 42nd. Morgan Best (154), playing as an individual, is tied for ninth.

MEN’S GOLF Harding leads Natural State Classic

The Harding men’s golf team has a two-stroke lead over Southeastern Oklahoma after the first round of the Natural State Golf Classic. The final round will be played today at the par-71, 6,463-yard Red Apple Inn and Country Club. Harding (291) had three players in the top 10 Monday: senior Jordan Perry (1-over 72) and junior Nathan Kannenberg (72) are tied for fourth. Sophomore Alex Williamson (2-over 73) is tied for eighth. Southern Arkansas (301) is fourth, led by Luke Williams, who is tied for 13th after a 3-over 74. Lyon College (314) is ninth, led by Justin Long’s 5-over 76. Long is tied for 23rd. Ouachita Baptist (322) is 11th in the team standings, led by Chase Netherton, who is tied for 23rd after a 5-over 76.

UALR second in Louisiana

The UALR men’s golf team is second after two rounds of the 14-team Louisiana-Monroe/Wallace Jones Invitational at Southern Pines Golf Club in Calhoun, La. UALR (592) posted 291 in the morning and 301 in the afternoon. UALR freshman Noah Tullos is in third place individually at 1-over 145 and junior Johann Voss sits fourth at 2-over par 146. Senior Ben Etchebarne is tied for 17th overall after posting a combined score of 7-over 151. Junior Matias Calderon shot 9-over 153 to tie for 21st. Junior Colby Benton is tied for 28th at 11-over 155.

ASU tied for third in Memphis

The Arkansas State men’s golf team posted its lowest back-to-back rounds of the season at the 15-team Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club, ending the first 36 holes of the two-day tournament with a combined score of 589 . The Red Wolves have three players among the top-20 individual leaders: second-place Easton Key (142), fifth-place Seth Garner (145) and Chance Holden (148), who is tied for 17th.
