The Arkansas Educational Television Network, Mercy Northwest Arkansas and Mercy Kids are going to bring the star of "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!" to Rogers from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Rogers Public Library, 711 S. Dixieland Road.

The event is free, and participants can have photographs made with the Cat. Episodes of "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!" will be shown, and there will be a story time with Dr. Seuss books.

"The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!" was created in response to findings that children graduating from kindergarten are less prepared to learn about science than about other subjects, according to a news release. The series introduces scientific inquiry skills, teaching core science concepts and vocabulary, and preparing preschoolers for kindergarten and first-grade science curriculum in a whimsical style.
