FOOTBALL Chizik to speak at LR Touchdown Club

Former Auburn Coach Gene Chizik will be the guest speaker at today’s Little Rock Touchdown Club luncheon at the Embassy Suites hotel in Little Rock.

Chizik coached Auburn from 1999-2012, winning the 2010 BCS national championship with a 14-0 record led by Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton. He previously was the head coach at Iowa State.

Admission is $20 for members, $30 for non-members. Memberships are $50.

VOLLEYBALL ASU defeats Troy

Arkansas State moved to 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play with a 25-17, 29-31, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13 victory over Troy on Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center in Jonesoboro

Sarah Kemp led Arkansas State with 15 kills and 11 digs. Sadie Clark and Kelsey Sullivan had 13 and 10 kills respectively. Jackie Gerig had 47 assists and 11 digs. Megan Baska registered 15 digs and Clark recorded six blocks.

The Red Wolves return to action in a road contest against UALR on Wednesday. The match-up with the Trojans is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Jack Stephens Center.
