New menu items increase value, selection for guests

Top-notch food & fun

Dine in the restaurant or get full service at the bowling lane

Fast Lane Entertainment in Lowell is known for its wealth of indoor fun, including bowling, laser tag, go-carts and arcade games.

Those activities and the 75,000 square feet it occupies are enough reasons for kids of all ages to enjoy time spent there. Another, and one that often goes unheralded, is the on-site, full-service restaurant, Ellie’s Grille.

Ellie’s Grille, set inside the arcade, opened with the facility in July 2008. It is a fast-casual restaurant with American-style food, such as pizza, burgers, sandwiches and salads.

Guests can dine in the open-walled restaurant at a table or booth, reserve a private party room or eat at the seating behind the bowling lanes. Ellie’s Grille has “floating servers” for lane-side service, allowing patrons to enjoy food while they bowl.

Special offers combine menu selections and entertainment offerings to create a package of dual satisfaction.

"Our new menu features a Food n' Fun Combo that now allows the guests to choose from 12 different items... and get a $10 fun card that they can use throughout the facility," general manager Frank Jameson said.

Three different price points are offered for the fun card deal. For $13.99, guests choose from Cosmo's Garden Salad with chicken; the turkey, bacon, ranch wrap; the chicken salad wrap; or a pulled pork sub. For $15.99, guests choose from a chicken deluxe sandwich, the Natural State Sliders, the Pig Sooey Burger or the Texas Chili Burger. For $22.99, guests select from one of four pizzas – the Mighty Meat, BBQ Hawg, Supreme, or BBQ Chicken.

A lunch-and-bowl special is offered 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday for $7.99. Six selections are offered including the buffalo chicken sandwich, classic cheeseburger or individual-sized pepperoni pizza. The price includes the meal, shoe rental and one game of bowling.

Previously, Ellie's Grille menu was extremely expansive, serving everything from rib-eye steaks to Frito chili pie. A revision of the menu last month made the offerings more cohesive, thereby making the overall prices more affordable, and even decreased the menu cost of some items.

That change, paired with the food and gaming packages, will provide even more value to the guests, Jameson said.

Appetizers include nachos, potato skins, pepperoni pizza bites, fried pickles and fried shrimp.

Sandwich selections include a Philly Cheesesteak sub, Shrimp Po' Boy, Turkey Melt and mini sliders.

There is also a good selection of salads, hot dogs, wraps, burgers and pizza.

The 29-inch Ginormous Pizza is popular among groups and serves 10-12 people, Jameson said.

For families, Ellie's Grille presents a kids menu with six selections, including a drink and choice of fries or apple slices for $4.99. Offerings include Mac n' Cheese, a corn dog, chicken tenders or a slice of cheese pizza.

Desserts include a banana split, ice cream sundae or brownie a la mode. Smoothies, shakes and soda floats top off the offerings.

Ellie’s opens at 11 a.m. daily, and the full menu is served until midnight Sunday-Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Catering is available, with delivery, set-up, ice water and iced tea included in per-person price packages.
