Holliman, Page lead Cardinals past Rams

HOT SPRINGS - Deion Holliman and Cornelius Page combined for 353 yards and five touchdowns to lead Camden Fairview to a 41-3 victory over Hot Springs Lakeside in both teams’ 5A-South conference opener Friday night at Austin Field.

The victory extended the Cardinals’ winning streak to 18 games and conference streak to 27.

Holliman scored Fairview’s first three touchdowns of the opening half, and Page scored the final two. Holliman’s first score came on a 10-yard run that gave the Cardinals (4-0, 1-0) a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.

While Fairview’s defense did its job, the offense put up 27 second-quarter points, sparked by Holliman’s 52-yard touchdown reception. He then had the Cardinals ahead 20-3 with a 74-yard sweep, outracing the Rams (1-3, 0-1) down the Fairview sideline.

Page then got in on the act on Fairview’s next two playsfrom scrimmage, both going for touchdowns. The first was a 41-yard rush over the left edge, and the second was a 63-yard reception from Matt Ollison down the middle.

Damarea Crockett capped Fairview’s opening possession of the second half with a 1-yard touchdown run.

Lakeside had an opportunity to put things in its favor when Cody Cockrell recovered a fumble on the game’s opening kickoff. But Lakeside’s jump pass fell incomplete, and the Rams had to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Grant Gaston.

The Rams had two other first-half drives go deep into Fairview territory, but Gaston missed field-goal attempts to cap each.

Holliman finished with 122 yards on four receptions and 89 yards on four rushes. Page had 77 yards on two catches and 65 yards on three carries. Ollison was 9 of 18 passing for 238 yards.

HOPE 35, DE QUEEN 7

HOPE - Javon Westmoreland rushed for four touchdowns to power Hope (3-1, 1-0) past 5A-South Conference rival De Queen (0-4, 0-1).

Westmoreland scored on half of his eight rushes and caught three passes for62 yards.

Nathan Stubbs passed for 115 yards, completing 6 of 12 attempts.

Westmoreland’s touchdown runs were for 12, 11, 5 and 10 yards.

Channing Knight ran 1 yard for Hope’s other touchdown. Kylar Means kicked all five extra points.

Hope’s Davon Potts led the defense with six tackles, including two for lost yardage.

De Queen scored on a 9-yard pass play in the fourth period.

WATSON CHAPEL 45, HOT SPRINGS 0

PINE BLUFF - Senior tailback Devonte Battles and senior quarterback Kris Mc-Cullough led Watson Chapel past Hot Springs.

Battles scored on runs of 21 and 8 yards in the first half, while McCullough threw touchdown passes of 52 and 7 yards to senior wide receiver Kirel Young for the Wildcats (1-2, 1-0 5A-South).

Battles’ 8-yard touchdown run gave Watson Chapel at 28-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

WHITE HALL 35, MAGNOLIA 6

WHITE HALL - Kirk Baugh passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to guide White Hall (4-0, 1-0 5A-South) to its conference-opening victory over Magnolia (1-3, 0-1).

Baugh completed 9 of 13 pass attempts for 123 yards and two touchdowns, both to Kaseem Smith.

Baugh ran for a 4-yard touchdown set up by an interception and 30-yard return by Kendrick Edgerson.

Irving Tisdale passed for 99 yars and have a rushing touchdown, also for White Hall.
