‘Good life’ topic for discussion

FAYETTEVILLE - First Christian Church will host a discussion on the “good life” 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 5. The program will be presented by Sarah Morice Brubaker, assistant professor of theology at Phillips Theological Seminary. Her topic will be “What Is the Good Life? Building Faithful Community Even When You Disagree About What Matters Most.” Brubaker will discuss different visions of the good life drawn from history, philosophy and theology and will lead discussion among participants about the challenges and opportunities that arise when members of a faith community disagree on how to live well.

The program, an ongoing lecture series titled FaithLife Connections, was created by Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa as a way to help laity connect their faith with daily life. Speakers in the program visit several churches around the country.

Participants of any religious tradition, or no tradition, are welcome.

Unitarians to bless animals

FAYETTEVILLE - Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will have a Blessing of the Animals service at noon Oct. 5. Animal companions, including cats, dogs, birds, turtles and fish are welcome. Dogs must be on a leash andcats and other small animals must be crated or contained. Participants are welcome to take chairs or blankets and a picnic lunch.

Joyce Meyer presents program

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - Christian author and speaker Joyce Meyer will lead a conference Oct. 10-12 at Verizon Arena. The program will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 10; 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 11; and 10 a.m. Oct. 12. Each session will include a message fromMeyer as well as worship services with Phil Wickham.

Meyer conducts conferences around the world each year. She also hosts a television and radio show, Enjoying Everyday Life, and has written more than 80 books.

Admission is free and no registration is needed. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open two hours before each session. Interpretation for the deaf and hard of hearing will be provided.
