PUBLIC VIEWPOINT A Multidimensional Change To Festival

For those of us in Fayetteville who have come to love a weekend of fl ashing blue lights, of unrelenting, high-decibel sounds and the rabid heart-throb of helicopters flying low over our homes, I think it is of the utmost urgency we consider the No. 1 threat to the future of Bikes, Blues & BBQ. It is the insidious killer that lurks above the belts ofmany of the annual carnival participants. Yes, my friends, I’m talking about “biker obesity.”

Surely it has not escaped the complete attention by the residents of our noble little burg, the numerous biker bodies whose only lack of wrinkles are those spread across their midsections.

In view of this possible detriment to the life of ourbeloved yearly celebration of excessive hog power, I would like to propose we begin now to consider how this joyous event might be modified for the future safety of all carnival participants and longer life of the event itself.

Yes, folks, for the sake of all those aging, porcine bike riders, we must begin to think of the future, and that future lies in a modestmodification to the nature of Bikes, Blues & BBQ itself. Of course, it will also become necessary to change the name of the event to refl ect its commercial viability.

In view of these considerations, I would like to suggest the name “Trikes, Blues & Veggies.”
