Police: Man Fired Gun At Dancer

FAYETTEVILLE — Police arrested a Texas man Thursday morning after he fired a gun at an exotic dancer on North College Avenue.

Angel Contreras, 26, of 102 Sunny Oaks in Weatherford, Texas, faces felony charges in connection with aggravated assault, terroristic act and discharging a firearm in the city.

Officers went to the Days Inn, 2980 N. College Ave. at 2:44 a.m. for a shots fired report.

According to an arrest report, Contreras had been at the Platinum Cabaret, 2366 N. College Ave., earlier Thursday morning.

He was asked to leave for “doing inappropriate things,” according to the report.

Police said four men, including Contreras, made racist comments toward a group of dancers as they left the club. The men were standing at the Kum & Go, 2388 N. College Ave. They then walked to their room at the Days Inn, according to the report.

According to police, the women also went to the Days Inn to find another dancer who works at the Platinum Cabaret.

As the women drove by, the men started “cat calling” in their direction, according to the report.

One of the women recognized Contreras from the Platinum Cabaret and told their driver to quickly drive off, police said.

As the women drove away, they heard a gunshot, according to the report.

Police said they found a shell casing under the balcony where Contreras was standing.

Contreras told police he had a gun in his pickup, according to the report.

He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond Thursday.
