COLLEGE BASKETBALL TV picks up 4 more UA women’s games

The Arkansas women’s basketball team will have four SEC games picked up as part of the league’s regular season television package, the league announced Wednesday.

Arkansas’ Jan. 16 game at Georgia will be aired on Comcast Sports Southeast, while its Jan. 26 game at Kentucky and its Jan. 30 game at Tennessee will air on SportSouth, which includes Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Midwest and Sun Sports. Arkansas’ final regular-season game on Feb. 9 at South Carolina will air as part of the SEC TV package.

The SEC women’s basketball tournament also will be aired on the Fox Network, SportSouth and ESPNU.

More televised games are expected after the Razorbacks announce their CSS games and other games from regional affiliates.

GOLF UCA women 11th, UALR 12th at Golfweek Challenge

The University of Central Arkansas women’s team shot 950 to finish 11th and UALR shot 954 to finish 12th Wednesday at the 18-team Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.

UCA shot 315-320-315 while UALR turned in rounds of 328-313-313. Pepperdine went wire to wire and easily won with a score of 869, followed by UC Davis (905), TCU (910), Denver (917) and East Tennessee State (917).

UCA junior Malin Senneryd tied for 22nd place at 72-81-77-230. Sophomore Sarah Brown tied for 37th (76-80-79-235), along with freshman Kendra Bishop (84-74-77-235). Sophomore Frida Svensson was 78th (87-88-82-257), while freshman Elisa Axelsen tied for 79th (83-85-90-258).

UALR junior Sofia Berglund picked up her second consecutive top-10 finish, shooting 80-732-73-225 to finish eighth. Sofie Kuarnstrom (85-78-74-237) tied for 44th, Stina Resen (82-79-86-247) tied for 64th, Melodie Jean Dit Berthelot (84-84-80-248) tied for 66th and Katie Reid (82-89-87-25) tied for 79th.

UA’s Kebenei, Swain sweep SEC weekly honors

Arkansas junior Stanley Kebenei has been named the SEC’s runner of the week and Aidan Swain has been named freshman of the week following their performances at the Missouri Southern Stampede Cross Country Invitational in Joplin, Mo.

Kebenei finished first overall, covering the 8,000-meter course in 23:25.75 while finishing more than 28 seconds ahead of the field. Swain finished fourth in the race.
