MOUNTAIN HOME - A Baxter County jail inmate who died while in custody May 31 had seven types of controlled substances in his system, a state Crime Laboratory autopsy revealed, Sheriff John Montgomery said Wednesday.
The death was ruled an accidental mixed-drug intoxication, he said.
Thomas Lee Self, 36, of Gassville was arrested the evening of May 30 on two misdemeanor charges. A jailer found Self unresponsive on his cell mat at 9:15 a.m. May 31.
Montgomery said emergency personnel were called to the jail, but Self was already dead.
The Arkansas State Police is investigating the death, Montgomery said.
