Washington County

Joshua Lawson of Fayetteville and Shelly Sharma of Farmington are amoung sixty students who were welcomed to the Harding University College of Pharmacy in Searcy at the white coat ceremony in August. The ceremony was a culmination of a week of introductions to the program.

Students were officially inducted into the program and received a white coat and name tag. This tradition represents the transition into the professional level ofpharmacy education.

Britanee Russell has been named to the spring 2013 President’s honor roll at Oklahoma Baptist University.

To eligible for the President’s list, full-time students must maintain a minimum 3.7 grade point average.

Carolyn Adams of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale.

Shelby Tyler Armstrong of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Bradley Hollenbeck of Fayetteville been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale.

Eric Lee Biggers of Springdale graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., in May 2013.

He received a Master’s degree in accounting.

Olivia Kline of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s list at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. She is a first-year student.

Alaina Grace Simmons of Fayetteville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimumgrade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Alison Thoma of Fayettevile graduated from Whitmen College in Walla Walla, Wa., in May 2013. She received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry-environmental science. Thoma is a 2009 graduate of Fayetteville High School.

Jazmin Roman of Springdale was recognized as an outstanding student by Drury University in Springfield, Mo. Roman received the Outstanding Student in Criminology Award from the department of behavioralsciences and was recognized at the annual departmental awards ceremony that honors students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and dedication to their studies.

Anne Darnell of Fayetteville graduated from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo., during the 2013 commencement exercises on May 12, 2013. She received a bachelor of art degree in hotel/restraurant management and buisness administration.

Darnell is a Fayetteville High School graduate.

Zach Henderson of Fayetteville is a recpient of the Arkansas Alumni Associations Non-Traditional Student Leadership Award for 2013.

The award recognizes nontraditional undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence white balancing and engaging in life circumstances and issues.

Henderson received a $500 check and a commemorative clock during the Student Leader Awards Event in April.

Five Washington county students have been named to the President’s honor roll for Northeatern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. These students are Melissa Jones of Farmington, Kerra Jones of Lincoln, K.J. Chafen of Fayetteville, and Randi Reed of Morrow. To be eligible for the President’s list, students must complete at least 12 hours of undergraduate classes with a 4.0 grade point average.

Springdale Har-Ber High School has been selected as the advanced division winner of the tenth annual The Big Pitch Film Festival. This year’s theme, “Use Your Voice to Silence Big Tobacco” allowed students to use their creativity to stand up to Big Tobacco.

As the first place winner, Springdale Har-Ber High School will receive $1,500 in store credit to purchase media equipment or supplies. Team members who participated in the winning television commercials will each receive a $30 Walmart gift card.

Kaitlyn Renee Dunn of Fayetteville graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., in May 2013.

She received a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

James Andrew White of Fayetteville graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., in May 2013. He received a bachelor’s degree in management information systems.

Kristen Leigh Schemel of Springdale has been named tothe spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Will Pohlman, son of Tami and Fred Pohlman of Prairie Grove, was one of four 2013 incoming freshmen selected by the J. William Fullbright College of Arts and Sciences to receive of the University of Arkansas Sturgis Fellowship.

This fellowship is the oldest at the university and is made possible by Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust. Each fellow receives $15,000 per year for four years. Will plans to major in biochemistry and animal science.

Nathan Berkley of Bentonville has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s honor roll at Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. To eligible for the Dean’s list, full-time students must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

Mary Raines Scriber of Bentonville has been chosen to lead the Student Alumni Council at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. She is the coordinator of outstanding student nominations.

Laci Luff of Pea Ridge graduated from Westminister College in Fulton, Mo., on May 11, 2013. She received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.

Kendra Speer of Gentry has been named as a Schedler Honors Scholar at the University of Central Arkansas. Speer was selected from a pool of 200 students with an average ACT score of 29.4 and average high school grade point average of 4.071.

Jeffery Hobson of Fayetteville graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., during the commencement exercises on May 4, 2013. He received a master’s degree in history.
