FOOTBALL Houston Nutt to speak at LRTD Club

Former Arkansas coach Houston Nutt, who coached the Razorbacks from 1998-2007, will be the guest speaker today at the Little Rock Touchdown Club at the Embassy Suites hotel in Little Rock.

Nutt guided the Razorbacks to a 75-48 record, won three SEC Western Division titles and led the Razobacks to seven bowl games before leaving for Ole Miss.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and the program begins around noon. Admission is $20 for members and $30 for non-members.

WOMEN’S SOCCER ASU tops Murray State

Loren Mitchell scored two goals to help Arkansas State beat Murray State 3-1 on Sunday at the A-State Soccer Complex in Jonesboro.

Mitchell, a sophomore forward, scored her first goal in the 18th minute to put the Red Wolves (5-3-2) up 2-0, then in the 46th minute on a header offa corner kick from Katey Carmichael to make it 3-1.

Carmichael scored the gam’es first goal in the sixth minute to put ASU up 1-0. Mitchell now has six goals on the season, seventh-most in school history, and Carmichael’s goal and assist gave her 21 career points, 10th most in school history.

ASU will host UALR at 1 p.m. Sunday.

UCA falls at TCU

Michelle Prokof scored the game’s only goals to lead TCU to a 3-0 victory over Central Arkansas on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Prokof, freshman forward, scored in the 24th, 25th and 53rd minute for the Horned Frogs (4-4-2). Shelby Wilson had two shots for Central Arkansas (3-3-2), one on goal.

UCA will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m. Friday.

UALR shutout by Ole Miss

Ole Miss scored three goals in the first 18 minutes of a 3-0 victory over UALR on Sunday in Oxford, Miss.

Rafaelle Souza scored in the seventh and 10th minutes to give Ole Miss a 2-0 lead and Olivia Harrison added the final goal in the 18th minute for the Rebels (8-1-1).

The Trojans (3-6) had one shot on goal, coming from Ashley Barksdale.

MEN’S SOCCER UCA wins at Lipscomb tournament

Logan Miller and Wes Carson each scored goals in the second half to lead Central Arkansas to a 2-0 victory over Lipscomb on Sunday in the final day of the Lipscomb Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.

After a scoreless first half, Miller’s goal off a penalty kick gave UCA (4-4) a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute and Carson’s goal came in the 61st minute for the Bears.

Patxi Shortsleeve had eight saves while earning the shutout.
